Even game for Dolphins in varsity soccer

Mike Camacho scored MHS 1’s first goal in the sixth minute, but it wasn’t too long before MHS 2’s Melvin Yamit tied the game, 1-1.

Enrico Valdez and Teddy Yun capped the first half with one point apiece.

Dolphins’ head coach Joseph Elger commended team’s efforts and looks forward to the rest of the regular season, which ends this Friday, May 27.

“MHS 1’s second half was their first scoreless half, meaning, their defense is really improving,” Elger told Marianas Variety after the game. “As for MHS 2, they’re doing well in the offense.”

Both groups went back and forth for the rest of the second half as Yun came close to his second goal. MHS 2’s Virbon Frial pushed the ball 40 yards but was stopped in his tracks by Eddy Manalili.

Darren Gabrido took over as MHS 2’s goalie in the last 15 minutes.

The Dolphins will play another friendly game today at 5:30 p.m. Saipan Southern High School will face Mount Carmel School at 4:15 p.m.
