“Last year we helped the [Department of Public Safety’s] police academy host their golf tournament. We also sponsored the tournament,” said EGA tournament coordinator Jay Cabrera in an interview with Variety. “The league has started and we have our January, February, and March aces already,” Cabrera further explained.
The Variety learned that the EGA is still accepting membership for all interested golf participants and enthusiasts. The membership fee is $50 during the initial entrance and then a renewal fee of $40 every year following that.
When asked how many members the EGA has Cabrera said, “So far we have 37 golfers in our association. However, we usually expect a normal turn out of 18 to 24 golfers during our monthly tournaments.”
The EGA does not follow the Peoria system and instead recognizes its winners by net score. However the association does offer Closest-to-Pin awards along with hole-in-one opportunities. All aces, from January to December, will have a final competition for the two day Ace of Ace tournament at the end of the year. All winners will be recognized and prizes will be handed out during the end of the year banquet.
