Falcons rip Jets, take 3rd seed in Junior League playoffs

Starting pitcher Darrion Jones went 3-for-5 with three singles, one stolen base, and three runs and Frankie Lieto scored four runs to lead the Falcons’ offensive.

The Jets led with seven runs at bottom of the second. Catcher Ray Ray Saralu handed the team a two-run single and Nathan Sablan followed with an RBI. Ray Tudela drove in Jonathan Villagomez for their ninth run.

The Falcons recovered with three RBI walks and two run-scoring singles apiece from AJ Evangelista and Frankie Lieto. Lieto returned home on a wild pitch to lift the Falcons, 11-10.

The Jets, struggling on the mound, walked nine and allowed nine runs on four hits between the fourth and seventh innings.

AJ Evangelista went 2-for-6 with one stolen base, one base on ball, and three runs. Frankie and Ian Norita, JR Lifoifoi, and Angel Palacios tallied two runs each. James Phillip, Dave Malwebug, and Barry Sunumai scored one run each.

Two outs into the bottom of the fifth, Jets’ Francisco Palacios sent Kyle Hocog home on a single. Villagomez bagged their final run on a stolen base.

The playoffs’ fourth and final seed now rests between the Jets, Ol’ Aces, and Tan Siu Lin Foundation-Rep. Fred Deleon Guerrero-Rep. Ramon Basa Kagman Lions, according to Saipan Little League’s chief statistician AJ Murig. Semifinal games will start tomorrow at 9 a.m.

The IT&E Fielders currently lead the juniors division at 11 wins and one loss, earning them the pennant title.

The second-seeded Martha Retail Store-BTS Program Survivors will be joining this weekend’s playoffs.

Lions 5, Ol’ Aces 2

Justin Santos went 2-for-4 with two runs to help the Kagman Lions snatch a 5-2 win against the Ol’ Aces in an earlier game.

Pitcher Cedric Ada scored an RBI single at the top of the third to score the Lions’ first run. Peter Santos came next with a two-run triple, sending Cary Camacho and right fielder Justin Reyes home. Malcolm Arron drove Reyes in on a sacrifice bat.
