Fitial defeated Roque Martinez via TKO four minutes and 52 seconds into the fourth round to claim the heavyweight title.
According to interaksyon.com, a sports website, “Fitial was able to get in short punches and forearm shots that soon had Martinez wearing a crimson mask, forcing the referee to stop the fight.”
On the ground and with his weight on Martinez, “The Big Hit” resorted to punches and left his Guam-based opponent with a blood-soaked face.
Both fighters traded punches and kicks in the first round. Fitial looked for an opening while dodging a series of uppercuts from Martinez.
Martinez, representing Spike 22, weighed heavier at 266 lbs. Fitial – weighting 254 lbs. with a height of 6’3” – now has 12 wins under his belt according to mixed martial arts website sherdog.com.
Both fighters needed their much anticipated rematch since a controversial encounter in PXC 22: “Battle for the Belt” last January.
Among Fitial’s recent victories were matches from Legend Fighting Championship 3 in Hong Kong, Gorilla Warfare 3 – Confrontation in Saipan World Resort, PXC 18 in Guam, and Trench Warz 10.
PXC 24’s fight card also included United States’ Diego Garijo, who defeated Korea’s Tae Kyun Kim. Guam’s Joe Taimanglo triumphed over Young Jun Kim via rear-naked choke 1:23 into the first round.
