Fryling completed the 7.9 mile Course 1 in 40 minutes and 40 seconds.
Butch Soblemente took the entire 16-mile course, and crossed the finish line first at 1:08.58.
Held for the first time at the said location, the 16- mile mountain bike race started from Obyan Beach all the way to the old military trail halfway to Naftan Point.
Another challenging jungle, perfect for the continuously growing triathlon activities on the island has just been devirginized by the two-lap trail race participated by 25 triathletes.
Rex Kosack arriving at 41:51 placed second in Course 1 and Ariel Garcia trailed him by three seconds settled for third.
For the Course 2, Joe Ngiraibuuch was one minute behind Soblemente arriving at the finish line at 1:09.44 to get the second place.
Florian Braig, came third with 1:11.17 hours.
Northern Mariana Island Triathlon Federation president, Russ Quinn settled for fourth place completing the Course 2 in 1 hour, 16 minutes and 43 seconds.
Of the 25 bikers, only 11 took the longer course consisting of another 7.75 miles.
Kanae Quinn was the first female participant to reach the finish line with 48:28 minutes and Jackie Vandam emerged next with 48:49 minutes.
The other participants for the trail bike’s Course 1 were James Abuy, (42:18); Edgar Abalos (45:18); Danny Calvo (47:14); John Jenkins (48:38); Arvin Apasan (52:52); Jim Arenovski (56:65) and Ben Babauta (57:05). The other two-lap mountain bike finishers were Ceasar Fortaleza (1:18.20); Jackie Vandam (1:18.46);
Rene Calage (1:20.14); Florence Antonio (1:30.15) Bruce Berline (1:32.55); and Jim Barry who came last.
It was a nice trail especially for beginners, according to Quinn as challengers have to go through boonies to encounter considerably “good” hazards.
“This is a good race to do, and we plan to do a couple of mountain bike races more,” Quinn said adding that with their group’s continuous growth they want to have two to three triathlon enticers starting September.
