GCAC, Cultura Athletics take part in National Championships

Herreros posted the best time at 17.22 while clubmate Macaraeg timed in a second later at 18.04. In the lengthened open boy’s 400m hurdle Jeofry Limtiaco finished first. Guam Central Athletic Club had no other competitor in the event.

Carlvin finished second with 1:04.11.3 followed by Michael Herreros at 1:06.63.2 and Jorgene Abalos at 1:10.09.2.

Only one competitor dared to enter the arena for the open girls’ 400m hurdle. GCAC’s Sierra Daughtry finished the race at 1:11.45.2.

2011 PSS-McDonalds’ 100m gold medalist Jim Lacsina brought first place home for Saipan in the 100m dash posting the best time at 11:91.2 followed by Cultura Athletics’’ Brandon Phillip at 12:18.1 and Douglas Dillay 12:48.1. GCAC’s Macaraeg placed fourth with 12:53.1.

Guahan Athletics’ Pollara Cobb drew first blood for her club by dominating in the open girls’ 100m dash and 200m dash, timing in at 12:60.1 and 26.71 respectively.

Cobb was followed by Cultura Athletics’ Rachel Abrams and Reylyn Sapong at 13:15.1 and 14:41.1 respectively in the 100m stint.

GCAC’s Jeofry Limtiaco and Rheada Unpingco weathered through the 800m run posting the best times in their division in a pool of eight total vying athletes.

Limtiaco clocked in at 2:08.18 while clubmate Unpingco finished with 2:44.45. Cultura Athletics’’ Beouch Ngirchongor bagged second place home with 2:18.44 followed by GCAC’s Jeremy Cruz at 2:20.04.

Jeashlyn Fejeran, a GCAC member, collared second place with 2:47.42 followed by Cultura Athletics’’ Jeralyn Castillo at 3:17.38.

In the open girls’ 4×100 relay medley GCAC’s fabulous timed in first with 52.98 followed by Marianas High School’s sprinters at 52.98 and Saipan’s Powerpuf Girls A at 1:02.31.

In the open boy’s 4×100 relay Saipan’s Team Beat Robin dominated the stint finishing at 47.21 followed by GCAC at 49.57 and then Saipan’s Jim Can Do at 49.67.

Cultura Athletics’ took first place in the open boys’ 200m dash with Beouch Ngirchongor at the helm posting the best time of 24.97.

Jeashlyn Fejeran and Jorgene Abalos survived the grueling 300m run in first place. The former timed in at 12:48.60 while the latter finished at 11:27.38.

Sierra Daughtry finished second with 12:50 followed by U15 Junior Nationals’ Jeraldine Castillo at 14.29.41 and then Culutra Athletics’ Jeralyn Castillo with 15:27.08. Meanwhile Jeremy Cruz bagged second posting 11:51.70.

Guam Central Athletic Club A dominated the final 800 open mixed 800m sprint relay medley, also known as the “1124” event with 1:49.15.

GCAC’s team B was not far behind with 1:55.43 followed by Cultura Athletics A at 1:56.33. GCAC A was made up of Naomi Blaz, Alexandria Daughtry, Sierra Daughtry, and Rheada Unpingco.

“First of all I would like to thank our neighboring island Guam for coming down this weekend and giving us a show. We’ve been doing this for at least three years now and we hope to continue it for the next thirty years,” said Northern Marianas Athletics’’ Secretary General Robin Sapong.

“Congratulations to all of the winners. I hope to see some of you for the upcoming Oceania Championships soon. It would be an honor,” added Sapong.
