Go 4 Broke falls to Asahi, 10-4 in Belau softball

The Asahis tallied two runs from lead-off batter Franko Flores and Clifton Silil at the top of the first. They had no luck in the second inning, following a strike out from Hector Efraim.

Olkeriil Besong reached the first base via error, but couldn’t connect a run due to Jordan Hyes and Perry Besong’s consecutive fly balls. The Asahis led 7-0 at the top of the third, with five more runs from Jason Hyes, Flores, Silil, Ben Aguon, and Ben Taisacan.

A double play on Shawn Matsutaro and Kevin Sanchez swiftly ended Go 4 Broke’s third inning. Brandon and Alfred Hocog struck singles before scoring two straight runs at the bottom of the third.

Go 4 Broke’s pitcher Alfred Hocog struck Besong out in the fourth inning, but that didn’t stop the Asahis. Dung Tenorio, Hyes, and Flores marked three more runs to secure the game.

Jacob Taitingtong scored Go 4 Broke’s only run at the bottom of the fifth inning, and finished off with another by the bottom of the seventh. Tenorio replaced Besong as Asahi’s pitcher and struck out Danny Ngirmekur.

Hyes finished the game after catching Matsutaro’s fly ball.

Peleliu 12, AJ’s Falcons 1

In an earlier game, it took team Peleliu only four innings to stop the AJ’s Falcons, 12-1.

The Pelelius struck out PJ Martin, and executed a double play on Jason Reyes and Alfonso Taitano to end the top of the first.

Lead-off batter PJ Masaharu hit a single and reached the second base on an error by short stop Jeff Isaac. Charley Kenty’s crowd roaring home run sent all players home for a 3-0 lead. Dennis Renguul zoomed to first base on another error by second baseman Isaiah Falig. Mabel Ngirngen pushed Renguul to the scoring position before bagging his first run of the morning.

The Pelelius landed their sixth run from Tanner Kenty in the bottom of the second. Charlie Kenty continued with another run at the bottom of the third, followed by three more from Renguul, Ngirngen, and Jake Koshiba.

Team Peleliu marked its first out from Masaharu’s fly ball, but recovered from Lefty Shiro and Leo Bobai’s consecutive runs.

Alfonso Taitano scored the Falcons’ only run at the top of the fourth. Mike Pangun struck a single and reached the scoring position while Henry Reyes dashed to second. Both players and Funny Kelulau filled all bases but failed to return home due Frank Hocog’s strike out and Ben Higgins’ fly ball. Poland Masaharu finished the game after catching Falig’s grounder.
