KAGMAN Elementary School, the defending champion, kicked off the co-ed elementary school division of the IT&E Interscholastic Basketball League by dominating Mount Carmel School, 31-5, at the Marianas High School gym on Saturday.
KAG’s skills were simply superior as each player on the court posed a threat, offensively.
In the first half, Tristen Carino orchestrated the run by scoring the first two buckets followed by a contribution from teammate Chance Reves before Carino added two more makes — including an and-one play — to set the tone after just over five minutes of action.
Defensively, KAG also made their presence felt as they allowed MCS only one shot, a three-pointer by Scott Muna. KAG’s Ishmael Bhuiyan took over the remainder of the first half with six consecutive points to give his team a comfortable lead, 17-3.
The rest of KAG’s roster then gave their fair share on the floor with Jaydon Aguon and Basil Faisao, combining for six points while Carino and Bhuiyan picked up where they left off with another pair of buckets.
Although MCS could not escape the inevitable defeat, they continued to put up a fight with Muna draining another shot before KAG sealed the deal, 31-5.
