From a two-run deficit in the first inning, the Peleliu sluggers rallied in the second with Kapileo firing a two-run homerun. Dennis Renguul and Darwin Masaharu added run-scoring single apiece to cap their five-run second inning.
Ogumoro led off a solo home run to help Peleliu keep a strong lead in the third. Despite four base hits including Joe Quitugua’s two-run homer, Sufa’s attempt to regain their lead went empty as Peleliu’s leftfielder, Manny Cabrera and outfielder, Mabel caught fly balls.
Sufa held Peleliu scoreless in the fourth, and Quitugua launched his second home run to help Sufa close in.
Bern Keleleman fired a run-scoring triple, Mabel, an RBI single and Leo Bobai a two-run single to stretch their lead again in the fifth.
Sufa kept pace behind as Quitugua fired his third homer, Jess Cabrera hit a two-run triple, while Ton Magofna and John Pialur hitting an RBI single apiece.
Masaharu and Kapileo fired run-scoring single apiece and Cabrera had a sacrifice fly to pull Peleliu away once again in the sixth inning.
With Jeft Cabrera firing a two-run home run, Sufa was a breath away to take the lead again, but Peleliu third baseman, Paul Ogumoro and first baseman Masaharu ran Ban Camacho down to foil his first base attempt.
Peleliu stood their ground fielding Sufa aggressively in the seventh to protect their lead and won the Masters championship, 18-15.
