Koblerville notches elementary softball title

KOBLERVILLE Elementary School claimed the inaugural co-ed elementary school division championship of the PSS-NMISA Interscholastic Softball League SY24-25 on Saturday, defeating Kagman Elementary School 2-1 at the Dandan Softball Field.

KOB cruised through the playoff round unscathed to secure a spot in the finals. Kagman Elementary School, having also made their way to the top, handed KOB their first loss in Game 1 of the finals, 16-10.

KAG came out swinging in the top of the first inning, connecting on a flurry of hits led by Aureya Saralu, Chance Reyes, and Hailey Mafnas. The trio brought in four runs, with each earning an RBI along the way.

In the bottom half, KOB responded with two runs, highlighted by Baylyn Mansfield’s solo home run, to stay within reach at 4-2.

KAG widened the gap in the top of the second inning, staying aggressive and capitalizing with five more runs to lead 9-2.

Although KOB gradually built momentum with three runs in the third inning and three more in the fifth, they remained in catch-up mode as KAG added one run in the third, two in the fourth, and four in the fifth to maintain control, 16-8.

KOB made one final push in the bottom of the sixth inning but managed only two runs before KAG secured the final three outs to end the game, 16-10.

Game 2

However, with KAG needing two wins to claim the championship, KOB made sure not to repeat their mistakes in game 2.

After reassessing their strategy, KOB returned to the field looking like a new team. From the first pitch, they capitalized on every KAG misstep, erupting for eight runs in the top of the first inning to set the tone.

KAG’s players couldn’t find an answer and were held scoreless for the remainder of the game. KOB, meanwhile, tacked on three more runs by the end of the fourth inning to seal an 11-0 victory via the 10-run mercy rule and capture the co-ed elementary school division championship.
