Konflikt, Jets, Armatech shine in UFO awards night

Team Konflikt handed a 94-80 loss to the once-dominant Namfrel-Proa to retain their open division title last week Tuesday.

Three of Konflikt’s players — Ivan Devero, Elmer Esdrelon, and Jawn Joyner — entered the Mythical Five alongside Proa’s Dan Barcinas and Jack Lizama.

The team’s coach and manager, Norman Del Rosario, received the Best Coach award while Devero claimed the MVP title.

Teams Bayani-Mobil and Cavite-Andoks rallied for third and fourth place, respectively.

Earlier, Armatech clinched the masters division title versus defending champion Cabalen-Wings Travel. Its members Peter Crisostomo and James Abuy won the Best Coach and MVP awards.

Joining the masters’ Mythical Five were Armatech’s Bruce Berline, Abuy, and Bernard Montano and Wings Travel’s Tony Diaz and Bruce Berline.

On October 8, the Jets defeated the Filcag-Rollers, 86-80 for the youth division title. Jets’ Ezra Caro, who scored 18 points in the finals, was named the MVP while Leo Canedo won Best Coach.

Trailing the Rollers was SIP-Aon-Flor, which settled for third place. Team MDX-Armatech drew third runner-up.

The youth division’s Mythical Five included Jets’ Sahj Hossain, Caro, and Eugene Manglona and Rollers’ Travis Eubanks and Brandon Aulerio.

Earning sportsmanship awards were teams Laguna-Saipan Unity Lions Club, Safswo-Edong Chaves, and NMBA-Mix Blood.
