Konflikts roar past Rollers, 80-51

Elgeanne Mangali ignited Konflikt’s winning rally early into the game after collaring six points. Teammate Bon Tamayo then marked another seven during the second quarter capping the first half with a 10 point lead, 32-22.

Jawn Joyner’s six points and teammates Edmark Mendoza and Elmer Esdrelon’s four pence picked up the speed of the game allowing the Konflikts to move further away from the Rollers, 54-42.

Joyner received two quick inbound passes to garner another four points followed by a jumper for a total of six while teammates Mangali, and Esdrelon each scored four field goals apiece to serve the Rollers Happiness the upset of the game, 80-51.

Blue Hauz submits to Cagers, 66-61

With the lack of their center player Kelvin Fitial and their forward Dave Sablan team Blue Hauz crumbled against the Smart Cagers during the second game of the 2nd Season QQ Car Rental Basketball League.

The Smart Cagers handed team Sonics their first loss last week and halted team Blue Hauz’s perfect record after center player Marlon De Dios knocked down 10 field goals during the last quarter, 66-61.

The Smart Cagers managed a sketchy lead during the first kanto of the game using charity shots to save them from team Bluw Hauz, 15-13.

Pete Iguel nailed six points during the second quarter surging past the opposing team, capping the first half of the game with a four point lead over team Blue Hauz, 33-29.

Darwin Barbo, Pete Iguel, and Ehroll Peredo each garnered four points during the third period foiling their opponents.

A small accident nailed the coffin of Blue Hauz’s perfect record after their center player Edwin Santos (13) was elbowed by the Smart Cagers’ Marlon De Dios (4) with 50 seconds left of the quarter. Santos was immediately ejected from the game and given medical attention.

The game continued and with the lack of a powerful rebounding militia the Blue Hauz faltered. De Dios knocked down ten more points for the smart Cagers followed by two free-throw shots from Manolo Manalo to serve team Blue Hauz their first loss of the season, 66-61.

Konflikt 77, Prospects 74

Although heavy rain halted the game between Ali’i Konflikt against the Prospects, this did not stop the former from edging past their foes during a re-schedule held last Wednesday at the Garapan Court for the 2nd Season QQ Car Rental Basketball League.

Last Friday, the Prospects managed to cap the first half of the game in possession of the lead. Center player Glenn Aquino marked 10 points for the Prospects playing side by side with teammate Jun Abedes who collared eight points nabbing a three point lead, 28-25.

Junior Mina and Jun Abedes each bagged a three pointer followed by a pair of jumpers to edge past the Konflikts again, 43-41.

Edmark Mendoza’s eight points in the third quarter put an end to the Prospects’ rally. Teammate Elmer Esdrelon grabbed four more points to steal the lead, 66-55.

During the last two minutes and 30 seconds of the fourth quarter an outburst of heavy rain halted the competition. Both coaches, along with the league coordinators decided to re-schedule the bout at a later time.

Last Wednesday the bout was settled. The damage done in the third quarter last week allowed the Konflikt’s breathing space away from the Prospects.

Edmark Mendoza started the game with a three pointer followed by two back door shots to lift the Konflikts, 75-74.

Jawn Joyner and Bon Tamayo were each fouled on their way up to the hoop. Each player was given two shots. Joyner and Tamayo each slammed the second shot perfect ending the game in their favor, 77-74.
