The Apparels had the upper hand of the game in the first quarter after team captain Ray Lizama bucketed 9 points followed by two jump shots by teammate Scott Norman to secure their grip on the lead.
By the end of the second quarter team Island Apparel secured the driver’s seat of the game by 6 points, 24-18.
Team Island Apparel kept their lead in the second quarter. Team players Diego Masga and Yasuhito Irinaka scored 8 points and 6 points respectively to help Lizama widen the gap made in the first quarter to 7 points by half time, 47-40.
The Armatechs finally got their acts together upon entering the second half of the bout. Bernard Montano fended off 8 points for the Armatechs while teammate Martin Moreno helped Montano nip the gap by 5 points after successfully shooting two off the key jump shots.
By the end of the third quarter the Armatechs were able to keep team Island Apparel at bay after devising a strong defense line against them. The score was then up to 70-65.
Both teams anticipated the last quarter of the game. Team Island Apparel became restless seeing that the Armatechs would not go down without a fight.
Sonny Ebuch scored 8 points while teammate Montano pocketed a downtown shot followed by a jump shot. Montano was fouled on his way down to the basket and was given two charity shots. He was able to bag one to contribute a total of 6 points to team Armatech.
Team Island Apparel fought to keep their lead. Lizama scored another 9 points for Island Apparel but the Armatechs were able to achieve a come from behind win after Ebuch and Montano bagged their charity shots successfully, 89-85.
