ON Saturday at the Dandan Ball Field, Chacha Ocean View Middle School celebrated after securing back-to-back wins against Saipan International School and Dandan Middle School, improving its record to 3–1 in the girls middle school division of the PSS-NMISA Interscholastic Fastpitch Softball League SY25-26.
Against DMS, COVMS controlled the pace with aggressive baserunning en route to an 18–1 blowout victory.
COVMS went straight to work, scoring a series of runs in the top of the opening inning. As DMS’ infield struggled defensively, COVMS capitalized on errors, swiping bases and taking advantage of wild pitches to plate six straight runs before recording the first out. Two more runs followed, giving COVMS an 8–0 lead heading into the bottom half of the inning.
During DMS’ turn at bat, Maria Aguon led off and managed to circle the bases via stolen bases and an error to score a run. However, that would be DMS’ only run of the game.
COVMS continued its dominance. Although it was limited to two runs in the second inning, the team erupted for eight runs in the third, with Melanie Cruz, Rianna Damian, Hailey Lizama, and Ariani Camacho leading the charge as COVMS cruised to the 18–1 victory.
Earlier in the day, COVMS posted another blowout win, defeating Saipan International School, 22–1.
In another game, Hopwood Middle School’s Anica Aquino and Benisa Ilo scored the final two runs to lift their team past Tanapag Middle School, 7–6.
