THE Man Amigas have yet to taste defeat in the inaugural NMI Softball Association Women’s League 2024, bagging their fifth straight win by outhustling the 670 Babes for Fun, 18-7, at the Miguel “Tan Ge” Pangelinan softball field in Susupe on Sunday.
The 670 Babes for Fun had a rough start in the opening inning as their first two batters were caught off guard by a double play from the Man Amigas.
However, third at bat Cat Dela Cruz was brought home safely by Erlinda Naputi (not Angui as earlier reported) and earned an RBI along the way. A second run was added by Ashley Angui as her double turned into an RBI after bringing in Erlinda, 2-0.
The Man Amigas retaliated with an RBI double by Rosie Saralu in the bottom half, but they continued to trail throughout most of the ball game.
In the third inning, the 670 Babes for Fun extended the deficit with four runs while the Man Amigas notched four runs of their own to stay within reach, 5-6.
The 670 Babes for Fun scored another run in the top of the fourth courtesy of Pauline Camacho who hit an RBI double. But they suddenly lost grip in the bottom half as the Man Amigas unleashed three runs that were highlighted by Bex Repeki’s two-run homer — the first homerun of the season — to take control, 8-7.
The 670 Babes for Fun then fell into an offensive slump while the Man Amigas cooked a 10-run rally in the fifth inning to end the game early, 18-7, by virtue of the 10-run rule.
