“I want to be more serious in my training,” says Carey who is leaving on Jan. 26 for Brisbane, Australia where she will spend one month of training.
Carey who topped in triathlons last year and brought home medals from off-island events, said it has always been her desire to level up for the future events, and it will be a great honor for her to have the training she needs from somebody who had a high reputation of bringing up top achievers in athletics.
Called by many as the “Coach of Champions,” Col Stewart is known for his ability to find and produce champion triathletes.
Having produced many state, national and world champions; six Olympians; two dual Olympians; one triple Olympian, Stewart is recognized by his peers as arguably the world’s No. 1 specialist triathlon coach.
In her search for triathlon specialist who can train her, Carey said she came to Saipan XTERRA 2008 champion Andrew Noble who referred her to Stewart who specializes on coaching world class triathletes.
Aside from her continuous participation in Saipan XTERRA and Tagaman, 31-year-old Carey also plans to compete in triathlon events this year, in Maui, Hawaii; Guam, New Zealand, Malaysia, and Japan.
