Mister, Zapanta, Berger are June’s athletes of the month

This was decided by the committee during last Thursday’s meeting of the Northern Marianas Amateur Sports Association at the conference room of the Gilbert C. Ada Gym conference room.

A teacher at Marianas High School for cooperative training and education, superman lives in Mister as he managed under busy schedule to enter in Guam’s 10th annual Extreme Adventure Race along with three other NMI competitors.

His team won the first place finishing the course in 21 hours and 37 minutes. His teammates were Yosh Gabaldon, Mieko Carey, and Russ Quinn.

Upon arriving on Saipan Mister competed in the 12th Annual Seaside Grill that weekend.

Again, Mister puts his sports coordination and communication skills to the test. He gathers a team and won the first place. He also travelled to Japan and placed first in the men’s division besting 15 other pros’ teams.

Zapanta starred in the bowling lanes with a shining record of downing more than 200 pins.

Mamiko also had a very busy month. As she trailed back on June 6, to her home town Niigita, Japan where she came third in Mountain Run Competition besting 497 other competitors, among them were 150 female participants.

A week later as she longed for more competition, Mamiko she entered a half marathon in Sapporo, Japan. This was a bigger race in which there were approximately 3,000 participants, about 1,200 females. She placed fifth besting 2,995 other competitors, truly a wonder woman in the making.
