Mobil boosts to 5th win over Wushin, 87-77

Marvin Rabauliman scored 22 points after pouring in eight in the fourth period, Ron Gamboa tallied 20, and Wushin was down for the count on an 87-77 loss during the 3rd Annual Shirley’s Invitational Basketball League last Sunday.

A run-and-gun offense wore out Wushin in the final minutes, with Mobil using the 10-point gap against them to land their fifth win of the season.

The victory hoists Mobil ahead of teams Fiesta Resort and Spa, DFS, and Pacific Islands Club-NVM — all of whom hold four wins apiece.

Wushin however, dropped to two wins and four losses, leaving them behind PSS-McGraw Hill. The squad, led by Ferdie Tobias, had earlier evened the score to 38-38 after erasing a one-point gap in the first half.

By the third quarter, Tobias had only squeezed in one basket and allowed Gamboa to score off a turnover while Orlle Ebuen and R. Tibayan scored 10 points.

The Rabauliman-Gamboa duo sparked their winning rally in the final quarter and piled 20 of Mobil’s 30 points.

It was too little too late for Tobias, who finished with three field goals behind the three-point line and totaled 26 points. Ebuen came up empty in the closing minutes and settled for 10 points.

Rabauliman, center George De Guzman, and Bart Demapan delivered on the defense with 24 rebounds while Gamboa posted four assists with two steals. Teammates JP Jose and Emerson Bautista garnered 12 points each.
