PAIRE Football Club players are standing strong in second place after acquiring their fifth win by blanking Shirley’s Football Club, 4-0, in the Marianas Soccer League 2 Fall 2024 tournament at the NMI Soccer Training Center on Friday last week.

PFC quickly rose to the occasion by playing aggressively and making contact with every scuffle for possession.

SFC attempted to stand toe-to-toe with PFC, but after several minutes of back-and-forth action, PFC managed to break through and overwhelm SFC’s defensive lines, allowing Ajani Burell alone to find the back of the net at the ninth minute mark for a 1-0 lead.

SFC adjusted accordingly and withstood most of the incoming attacks. Eventually, however, PFC struck again, this time with a goal delivered by Chad Taflinger at the 28th minute mark to widen their lead, 2-0.

The halftime break seemed to have given SFC enough time to recuperate as they held their own for nearly the entire second half. But as time winded down, so did they, which allowed PFC to finish strong with two more goals courtesy of Albert Flores Jr. at the 71st minute mark followed by Bruce Berline a minute later to seal the deal, 4-0.

On Sunday, however, PFC lost to Hana Football Club, 1-0.

Joining the winner’s circle was Old B Bank, which edged Kanoa Football Club, 1-0.
