Paire Football Club’s Pamela Walsh sets up the play after securing the possession during an A division game of the Dove Women’s League Fall 2024 at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.
PAIRE Football Club are still climbing up the ladder in the A division of the Dove Women’s League Fall 2024 as they notched their third win by beating Latte Football Club, 3-1, at the NMI Soccer Training Center on Sunday.
It was a fairly even match as both teams filled the first half with back-and-forth action.
PFC played with care and created shot opportunities with constant ball movement and teamwork while LFC went for the aggressive approach by applying constant pressure on both ends of the field.
After 30 minutes of exchanges, LFC wore down their defenders, who left Barbara Peteru unguarded, allowing her to find the back of the net and give her team the lead, 1-0.
But the lead was quickly taken away five minutes later by PFC’s Jannah Casarino for the first deadlock of the game, 1-1.
The halftime break did not give LFC time to recover. Within the first 10 minutes of the second half, they gradually lost composure on the defensive end. PFC applied offensive pressure and worked through the weakside where Aubrey Castro broke free for the clear shot, and connected at the 58th minute mark as PFC took over the driver’s seat, 2-1.
LFC tried to catch up, but they were overwhelmed once again as PFC’s Casarino recorded her second contribution at the 69th minute mark to further stretch the deficit, 3-1.
LFC fought back but, with little to no time left, had no choice but to accept defeat.
Winners, too
Joining the winner’s circle was MP United Football Club Pink, who retained their No. 2 rank in the standings by securing their fifth win with a 5-0 victory over MP United Football Club Blue.
Pia Ngewakl led MPU Pink with a hat-trick, scoring three goals at the 4th, 61st, and 67th minute marks while teammates Moriah Sablan and Amy Cabrera joined the fray with a goal each at the 24th and 44th minute marks, respectively.
