After equalizing the score at 76 – 76 with aggressive full court trap defense by the Ngermid Rivals, Styxers worked a post up play for their forwards. However with seconds winding down for the ballgame, Tark of the Styxers, found himself free at the wings by a swing pass by his team mate of which he drains a 3 point shot that gave his team the lead, 79 – 76. Styxers hold on that lead until the final buzzer. Una, Dennis, and Joeger, finished with 24, 18, and 17 points respectively for the Styxers while Javis, Jun, and King had 24, 14, and 10 markers for team Ngermid-Rivals.
As for the other playoff game between Peched and Islanders, the match displayed a very good team defense which resulted to a low scoring game of 47 – 46, where team Peched was victorious. Douglas was the topscorer for Peched with 14 points while Franky tallied at 18 for team Islanders.As a result of these matches, tables are set for the top two teams, Styxers and Peched, to clash on Friday, second game after the consolation game between Islanders and Rivals, to determine who will grab the title as 2009 Division 1 Champions.In other news, season playoffs where combination of teams from both divisions have started to determine the rankings of each teams, who will be the top 10 teams to play for division 1, and lastly who will be the season champions for this year’s NBL season.
