Peleliu cleans ball field under heavy rains

Led by president, Norman Mobel, vice president, Charley Kenty and treasurer, Poland Masaharu, the community group one of the longest and biggest sports families on Saipan brought their bush cutters, lawn mowers and brooms on Saturday to clean up the Dandan Ball Field.

Under heavy rains, the softball aficionados grabbed their cleaning equipment and trimmed down the grass of what has been not only a soft ball field to them but also a home that brings the closely-knit sports family together during weekends.

Doing a community service like this is how we can give back to the community, Mobel said, adding that the Peleliu sports group tends the ball field every month.

The said ball field is also a home to the Belau Softball Association.

Those who also participated in the ball field clean up were Mabel Ngirngemelas, Dennis Renguul, Leo Bobai, Darwin Masaharu, Jonah Flores, Tanner Kenty, Clarissa Mobel, Mary Aguon, Charo Bobai and McKinley Masaharu.

Meanwhile, Poland Masaharu would like to make corrections on the news that appeared last Monday. He said Saipan Mayor Donald Flores, although part of the Peleliu Athletes Club, did not participate in the Peleliu Goodwill Tournament in Guam.

The no-hitter performance he was talking about was during the softball events here on Saipan recently when he had nine strikeouts in a single inning.

The other Saipan Pelelius who helped reap this year’s titles were Charley Kenty, Poland Masaharu, Theo Minor, Dennis Renguul, Darwin Masaharu, McQueen Masaharu, Clayton Kenty, Gayvan Uchau, Vanessa Mobel, Clarissa Mobel, Cynthia Kintol, Eileen Kintol, Marjorie Kintol, Margie Aguon, Benylyn Mettao, Jerry Kintol and Joseph H. Kintol.

The other group members are Charo Bobai, Orpha Singeo, Martha Kintol, Dino Jones, JT Kintol, Clint M. Ngemaes, Yukiko Kintol, Jennifer Renguul, Halle Kenty, Sherry Kenty, Mya S, Ngemaes, Poleen Masaharu, Mildred Kintol, Kono Remeliik and Joshua Mangarero.
