PREMIER Builders, along with three other teams, emerged victorious in the Legends Sports Association Invitational Basketball League Season 2 at the TSL Sports Complex on Sunday.
In the opening game, Premier Builders reigned supreme against Yuman, 87-82.
It was an electrifying high-scoring first half performance by both teams. Yuman quickly found their footing in the first 10 minutes as they were led by Justine Enano and Carl Aldan who scored eight and five points, respectively.
But Premier Builders matched up with a long-range approach fueled by Jerome Directo and Jomari Dela Cruz with three triples to maintain the close distance.
Both teams continued to trade buckets and executed defensive stops, but it was Premier Builders who eventually controlled the lead thanks to the sharp-shooting veteran, Jun Estolas, who contributed 14 points, including a pair of three-pointers, to give his team a four-point advantage, 47-43.
As the game progressed in the second half, every possession became crucial.
Yuman’s Jaysey Magno found his confidence from beyond the arc, sinking four consecutive triples followed by Sean Licayan’s trey to ignite a comeback.
But it was short-lived as Premier Builders answered back with teamwork led by Directo and Estolas to retain control with less than five minutes left on the clock.
Yuman was forced to foul in order to stop the clock, but even with a few missed free throws, Premier Builders still had several shot opportunities that allowed them to use the clock to their advantage as they secured their first win of the season, 87-82.
Joining the winner’s circle were Tax Pro/Triple L, which defeated Kag Bros, 71-67; Choju, which powered past Unity Trade, 84-65; and Tan Holdings, which trounced Lamesa Kusina, 75-66.
