Prime tames Hericanes in women’s basketball

PRIME has yet to taste defeat in the women’s division of the 2025 Allied Pacific Environmental Corporation Basketball League, notching their third consecutive win by beating the Hericanes, 45-34, at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium on Saturday.

Prime got off to a dominant start, excelling on both ends of the court. Defensively, Azriel Fatialofa made her presence felt with her towering height, making it difficult for opponents to score inside the paint.

In the first 10 minutes, Prime turned turnovers into points with fastbreak plays led by Venice Enriquez and Jahsmin Ramon, who scored four and seven points respectively, helping the team build a comfortable lead.

Despite a rough start, the Hericanes relied on their experience, using each timeout effectively to assess the situation and adjust their strategy. Mikki Kautz led the charge with eight points while her sister Rikki Kautz and Sha Aina Mendoza combined for five more, keeping their team within one possession at halftime, trailing 17-15.

A back-and-forth battle ensued throughout the second half.

Hericanes’ Mendoza, who struggled to find her rhythm in the first half, suddenly caught fire by sinking four consecutive three-pointers.

But teamwork proved to be the superior strategy as Prime continued to perform strongly, with every player contributing to the team’s success.

Enriquez and Ramon picked up where they left off, capitalizing on fastbreak opportunities, while Rosie Saralu joined the effort by adding eight points.

Prime maintained a comfortable lead and eventually secured a 45-34 victory over the Hericanes.

Joining the winner’s circle were the MP Raiders, who rallied past the Beach Front Ballers, 34-24.
