Aquino and Moonlight were pounding the Migs in the third quarter when Mallari’s seemingly alcohol-influenced moves caught the attention of referee.
The referee called technical foul and throw Mallari out of the court.
But this did not weaken Moonlight, as Aquino continued his scoring surge with Rey Culala and Emil Olivos backing him up in the fourth quarter.
Aquino and Culala sizzled with nine points apiece in the fourth quarter while Olivos added seven points to help Moonlight keep the streak leading to their victory.
The protest came up when the Migs reviewed the game rules which indicates that alcohol violation can cost a winning team its victory once put under protest, which the Migs did.
Moonlight however, argued that the protest could have been aired right during the third quarter so they did not have to exhaust themselves further just to lose the game on such technical call.
Aquino led Moonlight as tallied a total of 32 points while Libuw added 16 points.
Mythical 102, Brothers 77
Jun Tabora scattered 34 points in the court while G. Miranda delivered 25 leading Mythical to clobber the short-handed Brothers, 102-77.
Mythical put up a strong defense in the opening quarter after Brothers’ Pagarao blasted twice from behind the arc. Pagarao carried the Brother almost single-handedly in the first half and was keeping the Brother pace with Mythical—a threat that the Mythical defenders thought they had to get rid off before it’s too late.
Leo Factor and M. Buenabajo however, help secured the lead in the first quarter with six and five points respectively.
Mythical put heavier clamps on the Brothers’ offense to protect their lead and they did not trail.
Miranda and Tabora continued their scoring surge in the fourth to help secure their win.
