The Triathlon which starts on Saturday morning at 6 a.m., will feature a 250m ocean swim for 13 & under novice swimmers starting at 11 AM and then the main Rainbow Ocean Swim that kicks off at 12 noon. The main swim will showcase the 500, 1000, 1500, 3000, and 5000 meter races.
As part of the Rainbow weekend of activities, for a $25 registration fee, participants get two dinners (Friday night at PICRC and Sunday at PPR) a T-shirt, and the options of participating in up to three athletic events – the triathlon, the ocean swim and the bike challenge on Sunday. Registration for the weekend of activities will take place on Friday evening. Late registration will be accepted on the beach for the swim but people are strongly urged to pre-register on Friday and enjoy the Friday night dinner too.
The 250m swim is strictly for 13 & under novice participants and will be charged at $5 on the beach. It will run along the beach for maximum safety. There will be prizes for first to third place winners of both male & female in three age groups: 8 & under; 9-11; 12-13. This event is intended for swimmers who are not yet able to safely challenge the 500m course. Senior national team swimmers regardless of age will not be allowed to register for this event. Junior swimmers are welcomed as the event is targeted for them.
This year for the first time PSA is officially co-sponsoring the swim activities with Triathlon.
