Rollers head to Guam for TakeCare tourney

A total of 61 players headed to Guam, joined by chaperones and head coach Joe Diaz. The RBC will be competing in five groups, which include the 12-and-under, 14U, 16U, 18U, and 21U divisions.

39 players in the 12U and 14U categories flew off on Thursday, 12 p.m., while the rest departed on Friday.

“I wanna thank all the parents who were here to support their children,” said Diaz.

The RBC will be playing against 57 other teams from Guam, and will be the only group representing Saipan. Games will take place at Guam’s Tamuning gym, and will last from Nov. 18 to 30.

The RBC, also known as the ‘G-Rollers,’ was established in 1999 and consists of 132 members. They coordinate games with Guam’s Barrigada Basketball Club on a yearly basis – this will be their first time however, to take part in the TakeCare tournament.

The Rollers recently held the 3-on-3 Family Fun Basketball Tournament at Garapan basketball court. On behalf of the club Diaz would also like to thank their major sponsors – the Tan Siu Lin Foundation, IT&E, and EFC Engineer and Architect Corporation.
