Rough run for Mobil in UBA caging

All was going for the Hoopaholics during the first, second, and third quarter of the game. As a matter of fact, they upheld the lead away from Mobil with a 5 point lead during the first quarter, 11 point lead during the second quarter, and a much closer 8 point lead during the third quarter of the game.

The game got pretty rough during the last quarter of the game after Mobil’s Jhun Estolas fell awkwardly to the ground after attempting a three pointer shot against Hoopaholics’ John Sablan.

Estolas claimed that Sablan put his foot near the area where he was supposed to land safely to the ground; Sablan then claimed that all he was trying to do was box out Estolas so as not give him a chance to drive the ball in because as a defense player, that is what he was supposed to do and Estolas fell down carelessly.

During an interview with one of the players from Hoopaholics he claimed that there were many penalties that the referees did not call when it was on Mobil’s part.

The player also claimed that during the earlier part of the fourth quarter, Sablan and Estolas jumped up for a rebound ball, Sablan was able to grab possession but Estolas was still hanging on to Sablan’s elbow in his attempt to grab the rebound as well.

When Estolas fell the two groups nearly threw punches but were able to calm themselves down and returned to the rest of the quarter calmly. Sablan (Hoopaholics) was then ejected from the game with less than three minutes left after holding on to Bon Bon Tamayo half way down the court; this was his second technical foul in the game

James Villacrusis, John Sablan and Kelvin Fitial each donated four points during the first quarter. Mobil did not stand a chance against this and settled for second best with Hoopaholics leading the way by 5 points, 19-14.

During the second quarter the Hoopaholics were able to balloon this gap to an 8 point lead after Dave Sablan nailed 7 points while teammates Kelvin Fitial and John Sablan each collared 5 points, 45-34.

Third quarter rolled in and Mobil fought back furiously to close the gap. With their hopes daunted for the third time during the game, Hoopaholics rallied through the ten minutes to keep their lead by 8 points. Both teams entered the last quarter of the game a little too anxious to mind their sportsmanship skills. The Hoopaholics kept their lead up until the last crucial minutes of the game. Hoopaholics repeatedly fouled team Mobil giving them too many opportunities for charity shots. After team player Jawn Joyner scored a lay up shot, Ron Gamboa and Bon Tamayo were then fouled and each sunk his two charity shots successfully to snatch the lead from the Hoopaholics, 83-79,
