The Gorilla Warfare MMA Inc., in its partnership with Universal Reality Combat Championship plans to bring him back on Saipan for a non-title match with a top contender either from NMI or Guam, according to GWMMA organizers.
Folayang who defeated Jerome Norita by technical knock out during the Gorilla Warfare’s Battle Ready last March had told MMA fans he would love to visit the island again soon.
Having defended his title twice in URCC XII “Supremacy” years ago, Folayang is the reigning URCC champion.
And with their continued partnership, the GWMMA and URCC are making Folayang’s wish happen, and that is to see Saipan again.
Boyer added that GWMMA matchmaker Pete Sablan, also plans to bring fighters from Japan in future installments of its MMA match-ups.
Though Sablan did not specify whether the fighters will indeed be here during the November fight, he promised that GWMMA’s mission is to continue bringing fighters in from off-island to fight some of the regions best fighters.
In keeping a higher level of professionalism in MMA the Gorilla Warfare, according to Jeff Boyer will continue to uphold its 18 and over policy in all matches.
Boyer said they will continue to insist that “fighters are actually trained to fight MMA and that grudge matches and David and Goliath showdowns will not be entertained at any of our premier events.”
Boyer added that they plan to introduce more amateur fight nights on separate dates in between our premier events. This however, will require fighters to have ample training and are not under 18 years old.
In addition to its continued quest to maintain parity among the fighters, GWMMA, Boyer said will ensure that a fighter who has never fought in an organized event, or has only fought one or two times previously will not be pitted against a more considerably seasoned fighter for the sake of potentially padding the more experienced fighter’s record.
GWMMA’s marketing man and stateside partner, Alfred Hernandez is encouraging people to stay tuned and visit our revamped website, www.gorillawarfaremma.com, which should be re-launched in the near future, and local media outlets for any further news regarding the November fight and future plans of Gorilla Warfare Productions.
