SHANE Alvarez and Vincent Palacios ended the 2023 Marianas Racing Association Monster Energy Points race series on a high note as they topped their respective classes in the seventh and final round Sunday at Cowtown Raceway Park.

Alvarez aimed to solidify his no. 1 rank in the expert class and succeeded. In heat 1, he displayed a near-flawless performance with flashy executions to finish first and earn 25 points. In heat 2, it was Ellery Cruz who initially led the competition, but he  lost momentum, allowing Alvarez and Dave Celis to take over the spotlight in the battle for first place.

In the end, it was Celis’s tighter turns that enabled him to cross the finish line first while Alvarez settled for second place with 22 points.

Alvarez’s combined heats, however, were enough to give him the top spot with a total of 47 points.

Celis, who came in second, ruled heat 2 but struggled in heat 1, finishing fourth for 18 points, which gave him a total of 43 points.

Patrick Togawa (22, 20) placed third with a total of 42 points; Ellery Cruz (20, 15) was fourth with 35 points; and Melvin Cepeda was fifth (16, 18) with 34 points.

Charles Cepeda took the spotlight in heat 2 with a first-place finish, but suffered from a setback in heat 1, which gave him a total of 41 points, good enough for overall third place.

In overall fourth place was Christian Camacho (18, 20) with a total of 38 points while Ponce Rasa (20, 16) was fifth overall with a total of 36 points.
