SHIRLEY’S and Kanoa football clubs will vie for the A Division championship of the Dove Women’s League Fall 2024 after beating their respective semifinal adversaries at the NMI Soccer Training Center on Wednesday.

Shirley’s will enter the finals as the favored team as they have yet to taste defeat, bagging their eighth win of the season by slipping past the Paire Football Club, 4-3.

The action quickly intensified within the first 10 minutes of the game as both teams fought vigorously to control the possession.

However, Shirley’s came in more prepared as they turned aggression into progression with a sudden shift of speed from defense to offense, catching PFC off guard and leaving Raven Anderson unguarded for the finish to give her team the lead at the 13th minute mark.

PFC tried to even the score, but their eagerness allowed Shirley’s to capitalize off a transition play with Anderson connecting her second goal to stretch the gap.

Jannah Casarino managed to find an answer at the 26th mark to break the silence for PFC. However, they continued to struggle on the defensive end, allowing Shirley’s Melody Johnson to find the back of the net at the 37th minute mark to maintain the momentum going into halftime, 3-1.

PFC returned for the second half with a focus on defensive coverage and upheld that commitment throughout most of the play, even closing the gap thanks to Casarino’s second goal in the 60th minute.

But Shirley’s constant pressure remained effective as they were able to slip through the defensive lines with Jeralyn Castillo connecting the team’s fourth goal to retain the upper hand, 4-2.

PFC tried to make the most of the remaining time, but they could squeeze in one goal only at the 71st minute mark before accepting defeat at the hands of Shirley’s, 3-4.

Kanoa vs MPU

Kanoa Football Club secured their spot in the finals with less stress as they silenced MP United Football Club Pink, 2-0. Audrey Castro drained the first goal at the 5th minute mark while teammate Kaithlyn Chavez added the second goal at the 31st.
