SAIPAN International School claimed the boys middle school division championship of the NMIFA-PSS Interscholastic Soccer League SY23-24 after defeating Hopwood Middle School 1, 4-0, at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville on Thursday.

The first half had both teams finding their groove with a series of attacks on both ends.

HMS 1’s Kian Estolas, Raven Pascual, Izaiah Tenorio, and Dominic Chhetri were the aggressors, setting up a handful of shot attempts, but to no avail. For their part, SIS’ Quido Jambor, Theo Joab, Taiga Namai-Scoggins, and Jude Rayphand created several offensive highlights, but they, too, failed to score.

Returning from halftime, SIS turned the dial up on both ends of the field. Their aggressive approach eventually overwhelmed HMS 1 as Namai-Scoggins slipped past defenders and finished strong to find the back of the net

HMS 1 closed the cracks in their defensive wall, but SIS continued to apply pressure and create scoring opportunities. Jebro Leon then stole the show with back-to-back goals at the 43rd and 46th minute marks while teammate Landon Springer connected the daggering goal at the 50th minute mark to secure the win, 4-0.
