The funds raised from this tournament will help defray the medical cost that is associated with the series of surgeries that the young man will have to endure in the coming months.

Entry fee is $125 with a cap of 15 teams.

Meeting for the tournament will be held at the Capital Hill Ball Field on Wednesday, June 8 at 6 p.m.

Lung Buster Bike Race launches Sunday

THE Mount Tapochau Bike Club is pleased to announce its 1st Annual Lung Buster Bike Race on Sunday, June 5. Registration starts at 6 a.m. at the bottom of Mt. Tapochau (parking area). Race starts at 7 a.m. in Commonwealth Health Centers’ upper parking lot.

There will be sport and championship courses available. From the parking lot, all mountain bikers will climb Navy Hill to Galaide Road. They will proceed to Mt. Tapochau Road, with the sport course riders turning right to Lamar Trail and connecting to Galaide Road. Once they reach Mt. Tapochau Road, they will turn left downhill to the finish line.

Championship course racers will not turn right at Lamar Trail but will continue to climb up Mt. Tapochau Road, connect to Sound of Music Trail, connect to Lamar Trail, and then to Galaide Road.

The race is open to all mountain bike enthusiasts. Only mountain bikes are allowed for safety purposes. All riders must wear helmets.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three men and women of each category, as well as raffle prizes for all participants. A free limited edition MTBC t-shirt will be given to paid registrants while supplies last. All racers will be given a raffle ticket, and extra tickets are available for $1 each.

The Mount Tapochau Bike Club is a non-profit organization committed to promoting mountain biking opportunities that will improve, enhance, and support the quality of life of individuals and organizations.
