CNMI first defeated Guam, 6-1 in an early-morning match. They led, 1-0 in the top of the second and pulled away with four runs in the sixth inning and one run in the seventh.
Prior to their collapse, Guam squeezed in only one run in the bottom of the fifth.
Team CNMI swept the Philippines in their next game, landing six runs in the bottom of the fifth for a 6-2 victory.
Team Philippines had earlier defeated Guam, 7-0 last Sunday.
The CNMI’s big leaguers currently include: Eli Aughenbaugh, Diego Camacho, Jonathan Celis, Ricardo Dela Cruz, McGarrett Duenas, Nathan Guerrero, Miguel Iguel, Dave and Joshua Jones, Keoni Lizama, Juan Maratita, Joseph Palacios, Nokki Saralu, and Eric Tenorio.
They will face the Philippines again tomorrow and play Guam on Thursday. Should they remain unbeaten in their next two games, they will be declared the champion. Otherwise, a championship game will be played between the top two teams on Friday.
