According to the Saipan Bowling Association, Talavera “carded a four-game total of 836 pinfalls” for a three pinfall win over Raymond Zapanta in the September Budweiser King of the Lanes at Saipan Bowling Center.
Talavera played consistently, knocking down more than 200 pins in two games. “He started the monthly roll-off with 220 pinfalls, before slowing down in Game 2 with 184 pinfalls,” said a report from the SBA. Talavera topped his competitors in Game 3, taking down a total of 238 pins and ending the game with 194 pinfalls. He completed the tournament with a total of 836 pinfalls, with a 209 average.
Likewise, Sablan also won last month as the Budweiser Queen of the Lanes, totaling her pinfalls to 753 with a 188.25 average. Sablan gained 166 pinfalls in Game 1 then posted 116, 202, and 224 in the next three games. She defeated former Queen of the Lanes champs Ron Cal and Gloria Omechelang for the top spot.
