Tanapag teams triumph in girls volleyball

TANAPAG Middle School’s varsity and junior varsity teams defeated their respective opponents in the girls middle school division of the PSS-NMIVA Interscholastic Volleyball League SY24-25 at the Marianas High School gym on Tuesday.

TMS’ varsity team bagged their third win of the season after outhustling Mount Carmel School in three sets.

The opening set was filled with countless lead exchanges with neither team able to gain the upper hand. At TMS’ frontline were Aaleyah Fatialofa, Miku Sharry, Ziella and Jonielle Sablan, who fought vigorously to keep the possession while forcing MCS to commit errors.

Led by the teamwork of Mia Guerrero, Miana Dela Cruz, Trisha Abuan, MCS was able to stay within reach and, at times, even took control.

The back-and-forth action continued throughout the set until TMS committed unforced errors during the crucial moments, allowing MCS to run away with the first set victory, 24-22.

MCS tried to keep the momentum on their side in the second set and nearly succeeded as they held their ground throughout most of the exchanges. But the tables were turned within the last few possessions due to MCS’ errors and miscommunication as TMS notched the second canto, 21-19 to force a third and final set.

The third set action was intense as both teams remained evenly matched. But as the dust settled, it was TMS that was left standing after flourishing in the final few possessions to solidify their victory over MCS, 15-11.
