Tigers edge Wassup, move to Belau Men’s finals

Tigers’ third baseman Gloyd Martin went 2-for-3 and hit two of the Tigers’ home runs to silence team Wassup, 10-8 in six and a half innings. Martin sent Jesus Iguel home to score one RBI in the bottom of the first.

Team Wassup endured a scoreless first inning before squeezing in their first run from Byron Kaipat. The Tigers however, had already taken a 7-1 lead in the bottom of the third.

Iguel went 2-for-3 with two singles and two runs, JD Dikito went 2-for-3 with one home run and one run, and Vince Cepeda went 2-for-3 with one home run and a triple to secure the game.

Marvin Kaipat started Team Wassup’s late-game rally with a home run in the top of the fourth, along Noki Saralu’s single and June Kaipat’s double. Oscar Secharmidal and Kyle Kaipat hit two more home runs to survive the seventh inning. Manny capped the game with a third out via fly ball.

Martin scored the Tigers’ last two runs via home run in the bottom of the fifth.

The Tigers will play TKK2 for the championship in a best of three series this Sunday, May 29. TKK2 defeated Red Torch, 14-2 to advance from last Sunday’s semifinals.
