The Tinian Elementary School team members pose with their medals as the title winners in the boys division of the McDonalds-PSS All School Track and Field (Athletics) SY 23-24 at the Oleai Sports Complex on Saturday.
TINIAN Elementary School seized the spotlight in the McDonalds-PSS All School Track and Field (Athletics) SY 23-24 as they claimed the boys division title with a score of 114 at the Oleai Sports Complex on Saturday.
In second place was Kagman Elementary School with 92 points; Koblerville Elementary School was second with 81; San Vicente Elementary School was third with 78; Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School was fourth with 50; Saipan International School was fifth with 44; Oleai Elementary School was sixth with 38; William S. Reyes Elementary School was seventh with 19; Garapan Elementary School was eighth with 19; Grace Christian Academy was ninth with 15; and Brilliant Star School was 10th with 8.
On Saturday, Tinian shined in several events.
In the U12 boys softball throw, Tinian showcased their arm strength as Joaquin Adriano covered the most distance at 47.63m while teammate Manuel Cruz came in second with a distance of 41.67m.
Tinian also reigned supreme in the U9 division as Vicente Cruz led the competition with a distance of 31.13m while teammate Joedric Torres took fifth place with 28.90m.
In the challenging U12 boys 1,500m event, Tinian did not finish first but still gathered points as Francisco Moses and Jaoquin Adriano came in third and fourth place with a time of 6:13.86 and 6:17.44, respectively.
Both students also finished strong in the U12 boys 400m event with Moses in fourth place with a time of 1:13.97 while Adriano finished fifth with 1:17.66.
In the U9 boys 100m event, Tinian’s Vicente Cruz placed third with a time of 16.37.
Tinian placed second in the boys division’s 4x100m finals with a time of 1:01.98 while Kagman Elementary School came out on top with a time of 1:00.42.
Tinian excelled on day 1 held on Friday.
In the U12 boys long jump event, Kagman’s Benaiah Murphy claimed first place with a distance of 3.99m while Tinian’s Francisco Moses followed behind with 3.84m.
In the U9 boys division, Tinian’s Joedric Torres was the top finisher with a distance of 3.53m while teammate Xiang Huang finished third at 3.18m.
Tinian continued to rack up points as Adriano came in second in the U12 boys 800m event with a time of 2:46.44 while teammate Miran Tamang finished sixth with a time of 3:03.10. Torres added more points for Tinian after placing sixth in the U9 boys 800m distance with a time of 3:22.63.
In the U12 200m event, Moses placed second with a time of 31.37 while Cruz finished sixth with a time of 34.38. In the U9 boys 200m, Torres came in sixth at 33.89.
Tinian finished strong as a team by ruling the boys 4x400m event with a time of 5:20.49.
Tinian’s Francisco Moses, who competed in six events, said his favorites were the 200m and 400m. “I want to thank my coaches, grandmother and mom for motivating me,” he said.
Tinian coaches Eptes and Chavelyn Epity said their team members “worked very hard.”
“Rain or shine they trained and we’re very proud of them. With the lack of track and field on Tinian, they could only train three times a week on any type of terrain, but that did not stop them from claiming their first championship.”
