TKK2’s huge 11-10 win over the Koror Tigers will earn them the top seed in this weekend’s playoffs.
Roy Celis, BJ Ahao, and Oscar Sablan each hit home runs to tame the Tigers. An eight-run third inning pulled TKK2 ahead, 8-6 — a strong counter to the Tigers’ early-game hitting spree. Sablan scored the team’s only run in the bottom of the fourth. Ayuyu struck out three with three walks and went 2-for-4 with two runs.
Vince Cepeda struck a home run to hand the Tigers a brief 3-0 lead in the top of the second. Derrick Aughenbaugh went 2-for-3 with two singles and two runs.
A scoreless fifth and sixth inning spelled disaster for TKK2 until Ayuyu’s game-winning hit.
Only the league’s top eight teams — TKK2, Tigers, Wuzzup, Red Torch, Bridge Capital Asahi, Dial Rent To Own, Hilitai, and Island Apparel Peleliu – will advance to the single elimination tournament on Sunday, May 22.
The finals round will be held next week.
