The team is composed Thomas Lee, Marvin Lee, Kaisei Toda, Takumi Sugie, Kaito Yanai, Ryosei Toda, Yuuki Nishida, Hiroto Yanai, Lukas Kang, Ryuto Yanai, Angel De Jesus, Angel Marie Tan, and Miku Tammy.
“We have more swimmers who qualify for the meet but they will not be able to go because of school work and other priorities,” said Tsunami head coach Hiroyuki Kimura, who along with team manager Yuko Kimura and Bell Tan, will accompany the swimmers.
The event is organized by the Guam Swimming Federation.
The qualifying standard time for the meet will be governed by the US time Standard BB.
“Tsunami Saipan will be sending Rezne Wong, who trains in Hawaii University swimming team now, to the 14th FINA World Championships scheduled to start on July 16 and run through the 31 in Shanghai, China,” added coach Kimura.
“Unfortunately, our other top swimmers Kai Staal and Kensuke Kimura will not be able to go because they have a full schedule during that period of time already,” explained coach Kimura.
The Variety learned that Staal will be heading to the States for college purposes and Kensuke Kimura will be participating in the Shizuoka Championships in Japan during that time.
“The last World Championships was held at Rome. As a coach, I went there with our top four swimmers then; Rezne Wong, Cooper Graf, Shin Kimura, and Kai Staal. Our swimmers were able to mark 14 CNMI records during that meet,” added head coach Kimura.
The Tsunami swim team will be competing in the All Schools 4th Swim meet that will be held at the Kan Pacific Pool in Marpi this coming May 21.
