Gorilla Warfare’s Jeff Boyer in a statement said his group and the URCC headed by Alvin Aguilar agreed to have a continuous and healthy exchange of fighters.
In July, Boyer said the URCC will bring to the Philippines, Giovanni “Palaxi” Sablan who has an impressive fighting record of 15 wins and 4 losses.
Boyer said they are “ecstatic” about the tie up.
While URCC brings extensive experience and a proven success record, Boyer said Gorilla brings a solid network of individuals and sponsor affiliation within the CNMI.
“We also share a common philosophy with the URCC and that is to expose, promote and better the Asia-Pacific islander fighter. Together, we can build on these unique qualities. With regards to the future plans for the URCC & Gorilla Warfare MMA,” Boyer said.
A short term plan, he said involves a great year of well planned and executed events perhaps even tapping the Guam market some.
Longer term would be to enter other Asian markets like Japan or Korea in tandem with the URCC and establish our name there as well.
He said this will need to be strategically laid out and we would certainly need the foundation of our much larger partner to anchor in.
Things are indeed looking up for the URCC this year and expansion is inevitable.
For his part, Aguilar said they are also gearing up for a first international event in a neighboring Asian country which will definitely put the URCC on the map of Mixed Martial Arts history.
“2009 will be a turning point for the URCC as we take on bigger challenges as we expand our horizons. We are very much excited about our tie up with Gorilla Warfare MMA and we foresee a healthy and long term partnership with them.” Aguilar said.
