Wood, Cooke top Leapfrog Race

Both Wood and Cooke finished the race with a combined time of 1:17:34. Cooke, who did the final bike leg of the race, arrived at the finish line first at 38:31. Wood ran in 32 seconds later at 39:03.

The 8.5-mile course that stretched from Pau Pau Beach to Banzai Memorial was nothing but a warm up between the two participants.

The team of Gary Bandoa and Nap Dizon came in at second place, timing in at a combined total of 1:17:54. Dizon crossed the finish line earlier than Cooke, finishing the course at 38:15. With Bandoa’s record of 39:39, the duo had no choice but to fall behind Wood and Cooke.

Following Bandoa and Dizon in the race were Jack Kabriel and Florence Antonio, who finished with a total time of 1:22:44. Kabriel finished the course first at 40:59 while Antonio arrived later at 41:45.

A total of 13 teams participated in the Leapfrog Race, where each partner alternated between the bike and run leg portions of the race. The event was hosted by the Saipan Adventure Sports Club and supported by Safety First.

Nearly all participants finished the course faster than the projected average finishing time, which was one hour and five minutes.

The annual Leapfrog Race, which started two years ago, is among the numerous unique events hosted by the SASC throughout their season.
