Zapanta, Cacdac, Cruz top PBA Budweiser Tournament

Zapanta tallied a total of 1,189 pin falls in six games on Sunday, edging Raphael Zapanta and Simon Manacop who had 1,136 and 1,134 respectively to make it in the top three in Class A roll-off.

In the step ladder finals, Raphael defeated Manacop by nine pins to clinch the final match against Raymond.

Although Raphael showed winning stance in the first game beating Raymond, 177-148, Raymond prevailed in the next round knocking down 170 pins to wear the championship crown.

Also making it in the top six were Alex Castro who had 1,125 pin falls, Robert Talavera, 1,108 and Russel Zapanta, 1,084 pin falls.

In Class B, Cacdac was the strongest bowler in Games 1, 2 and 4 to finish with 1,154 pin falls and won the first place in the Sunday roll-off.

Joe Sto. Domingo dominated Jared Gutierrez with 12 pin falls in the roll off but Gutierrez defeated him in the stepladder semi finals, 177-175 to clinch the championship slot.

Cacdac went underdog in the first round eking out only 143 pinfalls behind Gutierrez’ 178 pin falls, but bounce back in the final round lambasting Gutierrez with 200 pin falls to win the Class B championship title.

Roger Vales, Gloria Omechelang and Gigi Zapanta also made it to the top six knocking down 1,029 pins; 1,008 and 1,001 pins respectively.

Benjie Cruz had 985 pin falls to lead Class C roll-off with Paul Bea and Jerry Hibi trailing him striking 960 and 940 pin falls respectively.

Hibi had 166 pin falls to beat Bea in the semi finals but bowed to Cruz who won the Class C title with 155 pin falls.

Also making in the top five for Class C were Rene Cariaso who had 931 pin falls and Lala Taitano, 908 pin falls.

Zapanta went $350 richer; Cacdac brought home $300 and Cruz $250 cash prizes. For the second places in each class, Raphael got $250; Gutierrez, $200 and Hibi $150.
