THE Man Amigos have secured third place and a spot in the playoffs of the 2022 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball League after trouncing the Redmen, 14-4, Sunday at the Dandan baseball field.
The Man Amigos gained control in the top of the second inning when they drew first blood with four runs. Deron Flores, Jeff Cabrera, and Jess Tenorio earned an RBI each while another run slipped through due to a Redmen error.
The Man Amigos’ lead grew larger in the next three innings. Jack Guerrero earned an RBI-single while Mark Toves highlighted the top of the fourth with a three-run homer along with two more runs in the top of the fifth led by Flores’s RBI-single. The Man Amigos notched another run because of another Redmen error for a commanding 10-0 lead.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Redmen finally broke their silence as the Man Amigos started to fall apart defensively.
Mike Tomokane of the Redmen stole bases and earned a run while his team mates added three more runs thanks to Man Amigos errors to reduce the lead, 4-10.
But the Man Amigos fired back with four more runs that were highlighted by Eric Palacios’s two-run homer to secure the win, 14-4.
Aimeliik joined the winners’ circle after routing Peleliu, 14-3.
