BAMBOO MJD Marianas Water trounced Last Shot Ball Breakers 11-2 on Tuesday last week in the Tuesday Division of the Saipan Billiards Association Budweiser League at the Last Shot Bar.
Marianas Water’s team players were simply unmatched as they took over right from the start.
Although the Ball Breakers’ Victor Formales notched a win at the opening Singles 8-Ball match and scored another victory in the second, the rest of his team-mates were unable to pitch in.
Marianas Water seized the opportunity to take over by claiming the remaining matches. Marianas Water’s Jerry Soriano highlighted the night with teamwork as he paired with Roel Barretto to claim the first Partners 8-Ball match.
Soriano and Ray “Stingray” Matsunaga then bagged their team’s second match victory while team-mate Phil Kalen also contributed to their 11-2 win.
Last Shot/IT&E Destroyers vs 9Eleven DECM Wizards
Last Shot/IT&E Destroyers still hold the top spot after dominating the 9Eleven DECM Wizards 10-3.
In the one-on-one battles, the Wizards’ Aljay Malang, Ed “Kaka” Mariano and Daniel Miranda contributed a win each. However, their reign ended as the Destroyers lived up to their name and started “destroying” their opponents.
Notching consecutive victories were Roman Rodriguez, RJ Mascarinas, Rolly Villanueva, George Lizardo, Rey Pinangay, Jeff Garcia and Cesar Sangalang to give the Destroyers an easy victory, 10-3.
Bamboo Club 88 Str8Ball vs Arcee 9Eleven Hustlers
The players of Bamboo Club 88 Str8Ball, for their part, pulled off an upset win against the Arcee 9Eleven Hustlers 9-4.
It was a strong start that set the tone for Str8Ball as Rey Hermogenes and Jess Farinas opened up the Singles 8-Ball match with a 2-1 run. Their team’s momentum only burned brighter as Str8Ball collected five more wins to further extend the lead.
Although the Hustlers stopped the bleeding, they could only earn three wins before Str8Ball ended the match with a 9-4 victory.
