MCDONALD’S Restaurant’s 2nd Annual Golf Classic, which will be held on Dec. 3, 2022 at LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort’s east course, will benefit families and children.
McDonald’s owner/operator Joe Ayuyu Jr. and executive assistant to the president Natalie Mable Ayuyu-Glenn announced on Friday that this year’s fundraising golf event will benefit the Jose and Ruri Ayuyu Foundation Inc.
According to McDonald’s of Guam and Saipan President and Chief Executive Officer Jose Ayuyu, “Children and families have always been at the heart of our business, and we want to give back to the community where we live, especially to the underprivileged and those in need.”
For her part, McDonald’s Restaurant Saipan owner/operator Marcia “Ruri” Ayuyu said, “I want to thank our business partners and the business community for always supporting our event that raises funds for special organizations such as the Ronald McDonald’s House Charities, the beneficiary of last year’s tournament.”
The inaugural McDonald’s Golf Classic, which drew 143 visiting and local golf players in December 2021, helped provide “a home-away-from-home for seriously ill children and their families.”
Marcia Ayuyu said this year’s tournament will help fund local and non-profit groups that support families and children. “We are still looking for more sponsors to join us in making this a fun fundraising event,” she added.
Ayuyu-Glenn said after the successful golf event last year, they started the Jose and Ruri Ayuyu Foundation Inc. this year as part of the legacy of her parents.
The foundation’s mission, she said, is to continue to nurture the community and fund different events and non-profit organizations that continue to do good things, whether feeding community members, taking care of children who are sick, and supporting athletic events for which the Ayuyu family is passionate about.
The newly formed foundation will be a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization.
“We are really excited to launch this foundation and to be part of this golf tournament again,” Ayuyu-Glenn said.
Ayuyu Jr. is inviting all golfers to come out and play. He urged everyone to register as early as Sept. 5 at LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort or at the McDonald’s Saipan office in Dandan.
Vicente Babauta, the organizing committee chairman, said there will be cash prizes for the top three players in each of the six flights, from championship to seniors.
He said luxury vehicles from Atkins Kroll and Triple J Auto Group will be hole-in-one prizes at designated holes for a total prize value of over $100,000.
Optional play offers chances to win even more cash prizes for the most skillful of players. The format of the golf event is medal play.
The early registration entry fee is $120 per player starting on Sept. 5, through Nov. 2. After that date, the fee will be $140 per player.
