NMSA honors Athletes/Team of the Month for April

(NMSA) — The Northern Marianas Sports Association  announces the Athletes/Team of the Month for April 2021.

Awardees are eligible to be named Athletes/Team of the Year and will be recognized at the annual NMSA Awards Banquet.

April was highlighted by the ongoing Northern Mariana Islands Football Association Dove Women’s Soccer League, the CNMI Public School System Elementary Interscholastic Soccer League, the Saipan Unity Lions Club Bike Race, the Rollers Basketball Association 2021 Spring Madness League and the Northern Marianas National Paddle Sports Federation Season Opener.

Awardees for April include:

Jerlyn is one of the leading scorers in Division A of the NMIFA Dove Women’s Soccer League. She scored 9 goals in 7 matches at the end of April, averaging at least a goal per match played. Jose Maratita, a 10-year-old and 5th grader at Koblerville Elementary School, was the best player of the school’s team that won the championship of the CNMI Public School System Elementary Interscholastic Soccer League that ended on April 22, 2021. Jose is now training regularly with the Southern United Football Club and the NMIFA looks forward to his continued development in the sport.

Female Athlete of the Month

The 39-year-old Jully Rose Felipe started biking at the age of 9. The pandemic drove Felipe to start biking to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
