PELELIU and Tokahao earned separate wins in the 2022 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball League Sunday at the Dandan baseball field.
Peleliu pulled a late-game comeback to edge the Salty Boys, 25-24.
The Salty Boys seized control in the top of the second inning with eight runs highlighted by Mike Techur’s three-run homer.
But Peleliu gradually worked their way with two runs in the bottom of the second, five more in the third and three in the fourth for a 10-8 lead.
After three silent innings, the Salty Boys scored five runs highlighted by Techur once again, this time with a two-run homer to regain the lead.
But Peleliu answered with singles and doubles to squeeze in seven runs and take the lead for the second time, 17-13.
In the seventh and final inning, Salty Boys gave it their all and notched 11 runs to seize a sizeable lead, 24-17.
But once again Peleliu stole the show with Ben Hocog and Walter Macaranas on the frontline, bagging two RBIs each en route to an eight-run scoring spree to beat the Salty Boys by a point, 25-24.
Tokahao vs Asahi
Tokahao, for their part, outplayed Asahi, 22-14.
George David led Tokahao to victory with three hits — two of them homeruns — and six RBIs.
Tokahao’s right outfielder Alvin Takai throws the ball infield during a 2022 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball League game at the Dandan baseball field.
