NICK Sablan shot a net score of 71 to top the Saipan Golf Association’s July Ace of the Month tournament Sunday, July 31, at LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort west course.

But because Sablan is already the March Ace, the July title went to Rick Kautz who placed second.
Sablan maintained a steady swing throughout the 18 holes. On the front nine, he shot a gross of 40 and improved slightly on the back nine with a gross of 39 for a total gross score of 79. With a handicap of 8, his net score was 71.
For his part, Kautz shot an impressive gross of 39 on the front but lost his touch on the back for a gross of 45, giving him a total gross score of 84 and, with a 12 handicap, a net score of 72.
In third place was Mariano Fajardo who bested Rene Batallones in the scorecard playoff to break their tie. Both players shared a net score of 73.
In the Closest to the Pin side event, Alex Tudela led the list on hole #3; Jung Teack ruled hole #7; Rick Kautz triumphed on hole #13; and Tony Deleon Guerrero notched hole #17.
Rick Kautz also made the list for the Longest Drive on hole #9 while Nick Sablan owned hole #18.
Rick Kautz now joins the other 2022 SGA Aces of the Month: Edward C. Sablan (January), Frances M. Sablan (February), Nick C. Sablan (March), Larry I. Deleon Guerrero (April), Alex Tudela (May), and Mariano Fajardo (June).
The SGA 2022 August Ace of the Month Tournament will be held on Sunday, Aug. 21, at LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort East Course. Tee time is 9 a.m. while show time is at 8:30 a.m.
