RICK Sablan on Sunday topped the Amigos Golf Club monthly tournament at the Kingfisher Golf Links to claim the June Ace of the Month title.
Day one of the tournament was tough as only a handful of players scored below par. Among them was Rick Sablan who kept the rhythm going for his swing, scoring a gross of 82 to stay ahead of the competition. Sporting a handicap of 12, his net score was enough to put him in first place with Ben Jones Sr., Joe Torres and Joe Tudela.
On day two of the tournament, Sablan was the only player to stay efficient. He ended with a gross of 81 and with a handicap of 12, his net score was 69 for a grand net total of 139.
Coming in second place was Manny Tenorio who was one stroke behind. He scored a gross of 88 on day one and 90 on day two. With a handicap of 19, he obtained a net score of 140.
In third place was Janet Torres who scored a net of 69 on day one and 72 on day two. With a handicap of 22, her net total was 141.
In the side events, the par 3 winners were Joe Sablan Jr. at hole #6; Joe Sablan Sr., hole #8; Jon Matsumoto, hole #12; and Shirlyn Jones, hole #15. Each player won $150.
The Amigos’ July qualifier is scheduled for July 11 while the July Ace of the Month tournament will be held on July 25.
